A new claims firm believes that over 371,000 struggling home owners now believe they may have been given poor advice or may have even been mis-sold their mortgage during the property boom. New mortgage claims referral service Badlender.co.uk says 161,500 home owners don't think they had the right advice from their lender or broker when taking out their mortgage, and 209,5001 home owners think that they may have even been mis-sold their mortgage. This comes at a time when 195,000 home owners are forecast to fall in to mortgage arrears by the end of the year, and 48,000 are forecast to have their homes repossessed. In the last financial year alone the Financial Ombudsman Service has received more than 7,000 mortgage complaints from consumers (excluding mortgage endowment complaints), and currently upholds 41% of all mortgage complaints. Further research by Badlender.co.uk indicates that 21% of home owners who are currently struggling with their repayments think the problem will continue for the foreseeable future, and beyond the end of the recession. However, with the number of home owners in arrears set to hit 195,000 by the end of the year (currently 194,400 home owners are in arrears of three months or more), and the number of repossessions set to reach 48,000, Badlender.co.uk forecasts that the number of home owners struggling with repayments could still rise, and more home owners could come forward with cases of mis-selling against their broker or lender.
