Assurant Intermediary has added legal expenses cover to its general insurance product range.
The new legal expenses policy can be added to Assurant Intermediary’s range of B&C policies. It is underwritten by DAS.
The policy provides legal protection against a range of potential disputes including employment problems, personal injuries and contract disputes.
For example, cover includes tax Protection – investigation by the HM Revenue & Customs of their self assessment tax return and Jury Service and Court Attendance – payment of salary or wages while attending a court or tribunal or performing jury service.
It addition, it also cover Legal Defence – defence of criminal prosecutions and civil actions for unlawful discrimination or breaches of the Data Protection Act arising from a client’s work as an employee – and identity theft.
“A legal dispute can arise unexpectedly with problems ranging from a dispute with your employer to someone trespassing on your property,” said Kevin Paterson (pictured), Assurant Intermediary’s sales and marketing director.
“The cost of settling such a dispute can prove expensive whether you win or lose. With Legal Aid now only available to a small number of people the cost of professional advice can soon mount up.
“We’re delighted to be able to now offer comprehensive and competitive legal expenses from DAS as an additional policy to our range of B&C covers.”
