BML hires new business development director

Butterfield Mortgages Limited (BML) has appointed David Gwyther as its new business development director.

Gwyther (pictured) has over 36 years’ experience in the banking sector, including roles at Barclays Bank, Butterfield Private Bank and EFG Private Bank. He started his career in the finance industry in 1982, with previous positions including head of credit risk and assistant credit director.

He has widespread knowledge of the residential mortgage market and, in particular, the borrowing requirements of high net worth (HNW) individuals.

Part of the Butterfield Group, BML is a prime property mortgage provider with a focus on the needs of local and international HNWs.

Gwyther joins the London‐based lender to enhance its credit solutions, forge new relationships with intermediaries, and assist the company’s sales team.

Alpa Bhakta, CEO of BML, said: “David has an immense amount of technical knowledge in the credit space, which enables him to formulate bespoke solutions for our HNW clients, he will also offer support and mentorship to the sales team.”
