British Friendly has announced the launch of its fracture cover, an optional benefit that can be added at an additional cost of £4 per month to new Protect and Breathing Spacecome protection policies and pays a cash lump sum if a member suffers one of 18 specific bone fractures.
Fracture cover has been launched to help relieve some of the financial burden that may be experienced as the result of a broken bone. Additionally, members who claim on fracture cover can access free healthcare through British Friendly’s Clinic in a Pocket app.
It is one of their discretionary mutual benefits offering up to six physiotherapy sessions and unlimited digital GP appointments to help aid recovery.
Key features are as follows:
- Available alongside new Income Protection policies
- Up to £6,000 lump sum payout per policy per year
- Covers 18 specific bone fractures
- Can be removed at a later date
- Can be claimed alone or alongside a member’s Income Protection policy
- Available to anyone between 18-59 years old
Claire Kelly, British Friendly’s director of proposition, said: “We understand that for many of our members, particularly those in more physically demanding occupations, like manual workers and key workers, breaking a bone could lead to short term financial hardship, which is why we have added fracture cover as an optional benefit to our products.
“We have paid an average of 95% income protection claims over the last 16 years. We also offer extensive, highly valued discretionary benefits through BF Care and Mutual Benefits that can help members from day one. Fracture cover enables us to give members even more financial protection when they need it most.”
