Brokers urged to tackle leaseholder underinsurance

Berkeley Alexander is urging brokers to speak to leaseholders of a flat about the risks of underinsurance.

Geoff Hall, managing director at Berkeley Alexander, said: “It is becoming increasing common in England & Wales (different laws apply in Scotland) that the freeholder of a property asks each individual leaseholder to insure their own flat within a property. Many leaseholders are totally unaware of the risk of underinsurance.
