Confused.com has today (Friday 1 April) announced the launch of a new insurance, the first of its kind from any UK insurer. Thumb insurance offers policy holders protection for their thumbs in the event they become strained, damaged, cut or broken and is being specifically targeted at consumers who rely heavily on use of their thumbs for managing their work and social lives.
Confused.com expects the insurance to appeal predominantly to those who use ipads and iphones, touch-screen technology and games consoles for several hours per day, and who would be unable to function should their first digit be rendered unusable.
Naill Fingerson, head of digits at Confused.com, said: “We’re delighted to be the first company on the market to offer thumb insurance and believe that with the rise in popularity of social media it will appeal to those who use their thumbs heavily both for social and business purposes. We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers this product exclusively through the Confused.com site.””
