Richard Willets has been appointed as director of longevity for Friends Life.
He has been managing director of Willets Consulting since 2003, providing longevity-related consultancy services to the insurance industry. He has also held senior positions at Paternoster, the Pension Annuity Friendly Society (now Partnership Assurance) and Prudential.
Willets also chaired the actuarial working group that recently issued new models for projecting future mortality improvements that are currently being adopted by the life industry.
Friends Life says Willets is “widely-recognised as a leading authority”” in the analysis of longevity risk
