Financial Services Expo (FSE) Manchester has published details of its seminar programmes for the event on 18 May.
It will be held once again at The Emirates – Old Trafford, in Manchester and will provide visitors with access to over 60 exhibitors including lenders, distributors, networks, insurance providers, technology companies, and others.
Former GB Olympian, Steve Backley, will provide the keynote address. Dince retirement from professional sport in 2004 h4 has pursued a number of business activities, most recently launching the Perform in Property training brand, in conjunction with fellow former Olympic athlete, Roger Black, and industry leaders Legacy Education Alliance, Inc. He has also written three inspirational books – ‘The Winning Mind’, ‘The Little Book of Inspiration’, and most recently, ‘The Champion in All of Us: 12 Rules for Success’.
He said: “Success is a decision, not a gift. Performance in any field is determined by a number of factors around skills and knowledge – and of course one other factor that is integral to success, a winning mindset. Fundamentals like taking action, being creative, understanding core values (and aligning them) along with creative, unequivocal self belief are key to ensuring you bring your best self to your chosen role as an adviser.
“Sustaining high performance is what I have admired most in sport – and those in business who succeed possess similar characteristics too; they retain a passion and a clarity as to what they are striving for and are relentless in pursuit of what they truly want. In my presentation I will cover the non-negotiable aspects of high achievement ensuring that you too can enjoy a high and renewable level of success.”
Seminars will include one from Simon Cradock, corporate account manager at Nationwide Building Society, who will cover, ‘Economic essentials – what’s the current state of the UK mortgage market?’
Other topics to be covered include:
- Second-charge panel – confirmed participants include Roger Morris (Precise Mortgages), Rob Jupp (Brightstar), Adrian Maloney (OneSavings Bank), and Gary Bailey (Together).
- Buy-to-let – David Whittaker (Mortgages for Business).
- Protection – Johnny Timpson (Scottish Widows) and Jason Berry (Uinsure).
- Retirement lending and advice – Dean Mirfin (Key Retirement).
As well as the main seminar theatre, Shawbrook Bank will also be running its own Academy at FSE Manchester, with sessions on sourcing technology, opportunities for brokers, and commercial packaging.
James Prosser, managing director of Front Events, organisers of FSE Manchester, said: “FSE Manchester 2016 is shaping up to be the biggest event we have held in Manchester since we launched the event back in 2014. Since then we have grown considerably and not only do we now have over 60 exhibitors but our seminar theatre as well as the Shawbrook Academy. We have a particularly strong programme of seminars this year and are delighted to be welcoming former Olympic athlete, Steve Backley OBE, to FSE Manchester where he will be holding a session designed to both inform and inspire.
“Alongside Steve on the day we will also cover some of the key economic and mortgage market issues, plus a range of sessions on specialist product areas where advisers are likely to gain significant insight. To this end, we have experts in second-charges, protection, retirement products and buy-to-let. There have been plenty of changes across all these sectors in the past couple of months and our industry experts will be able to bring delegates up to speed and show them how they can secure continued business and prepare themselves (and their clients) for the future changes that are coming.”
