Gloucestershire most at risk from water escape

Over half a million pounds was paid out to park-home owners to fix damage caused by frozen or burst pipes throughout 2015, according to new data from specialist insurance broker Towergate.

Towergate’s analysis of three years’ worth of its own claims data has revealed that last year it paid out over £588,000 to park home owners across the country to cover the cost of escape of water damage, caused by frozen or burst pipes.

The new statistics also showed over the past three years the total number of claims has tripled, with park-home owners across the country claiming for £2,500 each on average.

On a regional level, the data suggests that owners in Gloucestershire are most at risk from escape of water with the county topping the list for the highest number of claims in the UK, followed by Hampshire and Kent.

UK Counties with the highest number claims:

  1. Gloucestershire
  2. Hampshire
  3. Kent
  4. Surrey
  5. East Sussex

Adam Summersby from Towergate Insurance said: “As we enter the winter the months and see temperatures plummet, park home owners across the country face the very real risk of pipes freezing, or worse bursting, leaving their homes without running water or heating as the frost bites.

“Planning and preparation is key, especially over the Christmas break, and we urge park home owners to take measures to keep their homes protected this winter.”
