Goldentree: what north-south divide?

A bridging and development finance lender has revealed the geographical makeup of its lending.

Goldentree believes that the north of England can often be seen as the second choice for bridging and development finance, arguing that a “large number of lenders” will only lend as far north as Birmingham.

However, the lender says its development finance portfolio is currently split exactly 50/50 between the north and the south of the UK.

Steve Marsh, Goldentree’s managing director, said: “With deals spanning Cornwall to the Highlands, South Wales to Norfolk, Goldentree are one of the few development finance funders who don’t get a nosebleed north of Watford.”
