GWlegal introduces online bridging purchase questionnaire

As part of the digitalisation of its conveyancing process, GWlegal is launching an online bridging purchase questionnaire for its clients.

The Liverpool-based firm will now send Bridging Purchase Questionnaires to the client, via email, as soon as the case is instructed.

Previously, clients would receive the questionnaires via post to their home address.

GWlegal believes the move will cut what was once a five to seven day process down to just one, given that clients will be able to convey all relevant information to the firm online the same day the questionnaire is received. The property team at GW will then start working on the case immediately, leading to faster processing (and in many cases, completion) times.

In addition, clients will be given access to the GWaccount, an online portal where all case milestones can be viewed, 24-7, in real time.

Lynne McCaffrey, head of property at GWlegal, said: “Both our brokers and clients are now very tech-savvy, we get that, we get that they want fast and efficient processes, so it is our natural aim as a firm to make the conveyancing process, as much as possible, digital.

“Last year, we received feedback that our clients would prefer information-giving exercises such as the questionnaire to be online, so that information can be given in a more convenient way, and the case could get moving faster. We listened! We are now aiming for all questionnaires in our property department to be digital by the end of 2019.

”This change will also help us work with our brokers in a better way, seeing that transactions are completed within the client’s preferred time-scale.

It’s a win-win for everybody involved. A digital process, as far as conveyancing is concerned, just makes sense.”

The firm has also digitalised its questionnaire for purchase clients in general. Questionnaires for remortgage clients will move online later in 2019.
