Increased debt exacerbating mental illness

A new report claims that half of adults in debt may have a mental health problem.

A literature review which has been endorsed by Stephen Fry and Alastair Campbell was published by The Royal College of Psychiatrists and Rethink, funded by the Money Advice Trust and the Finance & Leasing Association.

Professor Dinesh Bhugra, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said: “The economic downturn will impact on the UK’s mental health. All political action at this time is important.””
