Leeds branch raises cash for Alzheimer’s Society

The Leeds Building Society’s Cardiff branch has raised £700 for Alzheimer’s Society this year.

Colleagues’ fundraising efforts included holding raffles, selling sweets and wearing fancy dress.

To celebrate the £700 donation, Cardiff opera singer Wynne Evans visited the branch to draw the latest winning raffle numbers.

Leeds Building Society celebrates its 140th anniversary in 2015 and its branches have been challenged to raise £140 each for the care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers.

Paula O’Sullivan, manager of Leeds Building Society’s Cardiff branch said: “The team made a terrific effort with fundraising efforts this year for Alzheimer’s Society.

“I’d also like to thank Wynne Evans for supporting our cause and taking time out to make it a very special day indeed.”

Hannah Wright, Alzheimer’s Society senior regional corporate partnership executive – North, said: “Leeds Building Society’s Cardiff branch have taken on the challenge to dress up, sell sweets and raffle their way to fundraising success.

“They have beaten their original £140 target, and helped us in our vison for a world without dementia.”
