Leeds’ members donate £10,000

Leeds Building Society has made a £10,000 donation to Andrew Gale, Yorkshire County Cricket Club captain.

Gale accepted it on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The £10,000 cheque relates to 0.10% of the total balances in an affinity savings account offered by Leeds Building Society in conjunction with Marie Curie.

Gary Brook, Leeds Building Society’s head of corporate communication, presented Gale with a special cricket bat to mark the donation at Headingley.

Brook said: “This £10,000 donation to Marie Curie is equivalent to 0.10% of the total balances held in an affinity account, which offered our customers an excellent return on their savings. This innovative product was a great success across our national branch network, where we strive to provide a local community feel. We are delighted to have made this £10,000 donation.”

Brian Curran, Marie Curie Cancer Care corporate development manager, said: “We are delighted to receive the continued support of Leeds Building Society. This money will enable us to continue to care for people living with cancer, and other life limiting conditions, in our hospices and through our nursing services.”
