Leeds volunteers help disabled charity

Volunteers from Leeds Building Society spent a day helping out at a city disabled charity ahead of its move to new premises.

William Merritt Disabled Living Centre assesses people with disabilities to discover what support they’ll need to live more independently.

“We are lucky enough to shortly be moving into a new building, and seven volunteers from the Society’s Armley branch kindly helped us prepare for this by archiving documents,” said Rachel Gough, marketing manager at William Merritt Disabled Living Centre.

The seven Leeds Building Society colleagues took advantage of the mutual’s volunteering scheme, which allows all employees a day’s paid leave each year to help in the community.

Chris Sykes, Armley branch manager, said: “It was a great opportunity to spend time with our team outside of work whilst also helping a good cause.

“We were delighted to support a local disabled charity and will look at ways we can help them again in future.”
