L&G makes critical illness cover changes

Legal & General has improved its critical illness cover.

Its group critical illness cover will now also include cover for aplastic anaemia, bacterial meningitis, cardiomyopathy, encephalitis and liver failure.

The survival period has also been reduced from 30 to 14 days for most illnesses.

Legal & General is also increasing the value of support available to claimants. Their maximum benefit can now be up to five times scheme earnings or £500,000 whichever is less.

Vanessa Sallows, underwriting and benefits director, group protection, at Legal & General, said: “Employers and employees all over the country rely on critical illness cover to help them to cope with challenging circumstances. Expanding the range of illnesses that we cover means we can help more people when they are ill. These changes show that Legal & General is adapting its policies to meet more of the needs of its customers.”””
