Lownds celebrates 25 years at the Hanley Economic

David Lownds, head of marketing & business development, is celebrating 25 years at the Hanley Economic Building Society.

He joined the society as IT analyst & programmer following his graduation in 1994.

Lownds (pictured) worked his way up to join the leadership team in 2002, before becoming head of marketing & business development in 2004.

He said: “I believe that I’ve benefitted from access to areas of the business that you simply wouldn’t get in the large PLC world. This means I have had the privilege of working with lots of great people over the past 25 years and whilst a number of colleagues have moved on or retired, I’m proud to be able to call many of them friends for life.

“In a 24/7 connected world, I find running gives me that hour a day to think. My favourite race to date has been the Amsterdam marathon, the course combined the city with scenic canals and then the Dutch support was fantastic.”

Mark Selby, CEO of the Hanley Economic, added: “Throughout his career, David has remained an integral part of the team and demonstrated dedication to his role and the success of Hanley Economic. He’s also become recognised as an expert is the building society sector. I would like to offer my sincere thanks and congratulations for his 25 years at the society.”
