New trustees at Leeds Building Society Foundation

Two new trustees have joined the Leeds Building Society Foundation.

The appointment of David Marsh and Carla Marshall takes the membership of the charity’s board to six, following the retirement of long-serving trustees Anne Shelton, Michael Garnett and Robert Wade in the preceding 12 months.

Gary Hetherington, chairman of the trustees, said: “We’re delighted to welcome David and Carla to the board. Their skills and expertise in the charitable sector will help the Foundation continue its success in supporting smaller community-based projects which might otherwise find it difficult to secure financial assistance.”

Leeds Building Society Foundation, which is independently run by a Board of Trustees, is funded in part by an annual donation from Leeds Building Society. The balance of its financial support comes mainly from the Your Interest in Theirs scheme which enables Society members to donate the pence interest from their savings accounts.

Luke Wellock, Leeds Building Society’s corporate responsibility manager, who is also secretary to the Foundation, said: “I’d like to thank members for their generosity – by donating the pence interest from their savings accounts they are making a huge difference to good causes up and down the country.

“I’m delighted to be welcoming Carla and David onto the Board, who between them have a clear understanding of the charity sector, the issues it is facing, and have first-hand experience working with charities.

“I know they will make a valuable contribution to the Foundation’s work.”
