Global business funder, Bibby Financial Services (BFS), has appointed Mike Fairey as non-executive director.

In a career spanning over 50 years, Fairey has held a wide variety of executive and non-executive roles throughout the financial services sector, including 10 years as deputy group chief executive of Lloyds TSB Group Plc.

Since retiring from Lloyds TSB in 2008, Fairey has taken on a number of senior non-executive roles with a number of quoted and private companies, including Visa Europe, Legal & General Plc and Northern Rock’s ‘good bank’, during the lender’s restructure and transition.

He is currently chair of Hastings Group Holdings plc and non-executive director at MGM Advantage and Energy Savings Trust.

Gaurav Batra, chairman of BFS, said: “Having a seasoned professional of Mike’s calibre join our global board is a significant coup and we are delighted to welcome Mike to BFS. Mike’s deep experience on the boards of both publicly-traded and private companies throughout the financial services sector will be a huge advantage to us and we look forward to benefiting from his experience and counsel.”

Fairey said: “BFS is an ambitious and forward-looking global business providing real value to clients across the world.

“I’m pleased to be joining at such an exciting time and look forward to helping the business grow even further.”

BFS supports more than 10,000 businesses in more than 13 countries globally. The company was formed in 1982 and is part of the family owned, diversified British business, the Bibby Line Group.

David Postings, global chief executive of BFS, added: “Our strategy is to focus and grow, and this involves developing our capabilities to deliver one joined-up global business whilst empowering local management.

“In recent years we have achieved strong growth and Mike’s appointment as non-executive director is another important milestone as our business matures.”
