Openwork has announced that its new national charity partner for the next three years will be Action For Kids.
It is one of the few charities in the country to fund and maintain bespoke powered wheelchairs for children and young people throughout the UK. Openwork will support the charity in the form of a £40,000 a year grant from the Openwork Foundation, the network’s community programme.
The grant, which will run from 2017 to 2019, will be used to develop Action For Kids’ advocacy programme to support families in securing funding from statutory services and also to fund specialist mobility equipment, where funding is not available.
The Openwork Foundation was established in 2005 and is funded and supported by Openwork’s staff and financial advisers, including Owl Financial.
Sam Tesch, Openwork Foundation manager, said: “Action For Kids is an amazing charity, helping so many children across the UK access appropriate mobility equipment and gain more independence. We are delighted to be able to offer them our support for the next three years.”
