Sterling has fallen further in the Far East amid fears for the economy following the vote to leave the European Union.
In trading in Asia, the pound went under the $1.3 mark, slumping to $1.2798 at one point.
The last time the Sterling went below the $1.3 mark, Frankie Goes to Hollywood were at number one in the record charts.
