Sesame Bankhall Group (SBG) has announced the appointment of Nick Criticos to its board as an independent non-executive director.

The appointment is subject to approval by the FSA.

Criticos is a qualified actuary with over 25 years industry experience, predominantly in the investment sector where he has held senior roles for companies including Royal & Sun Alliance, ISIS Asset Management and F&C REIT Asset Management, where he is currently chief executive.

He joins two other independent non-executive directors on the SBG board to support the group’s strategy and direction: Diana Miller, who was appointed in November 2012; and John Cowan, who is SBG’s senior independent non-executive director and has been part of the group’s board since 2009.

SBG has also confirmed that Mike Chadwick will be leaving the SBG board as an independent non-executive director at the end of March 2013, after six years.

Ivan Martin, executive chairman of Sesame Bankhall Group, said: “We are pleased to welcome Nick to the SBG board. This move reflects the continuing evolution of SBG, with our new wealth management arm and the launch of Optimum Investment Management proving to be very popular with advisers. We look forward to benefiting from Nick’s investment management expertise and strategic input as we develop this further for the benefit of advisers and their clients.

“At the same time, we also say goodbye to Mike Chadwick. Mike has worked with the group for six years and during that time we have benefited from his valuable contribution, insight and leadership. We would like to thank Mike for his loyal commitment and wish him well for the future.”

Criticos added: “SBG has shown a real desire to take the initiative and evolve for the future. By building on its strong foundations and heritage, I believe SBG will ensure its own long-term success and that of its advisers. As the market leader, SBG has an important role in our industry and I am looking forward to working closely with the group’s strong management team to help take the business forward.”
