SortRefer achieves ISO 27001 and claims GDPR readiness

Online conveyancing platform SortRefer has stated that it has attained ISO 27001, a benchmark for information security management systems (ISMS).

An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organisation’s information risk management processes and is a standard which dovetails neatly with the new GDPR rules, according to CEO Kevin Tunnicliffe.

He said: “We are proud to have achieved the ISO 27001 accreditation at a time when the security of data and the online systems we all use every day are being targeted. Data security and how data is stored, accessed and used is front page news.

“On May 25th, under GDPR, data protection rules will change and all firms and organisations holding client information will have to conform with the new requirements. At SortRefer, we have been working to ensure that all of our systems and procedures are fit for purpose and meet the new rules. The ISO 27001 designation demonstrates our commitment to being proactive in ensuring that introducers to SortRefer can be assured that not only are their customers’ conveyancing needs being met, but also the data we hold is secure.”
