The Leeds makes donation to homeless charity

(L-R) volunteer John Dalton, operations director Matthew Nice, shop manager Chris Lane, fundraising director Martin Patterson, Father Ian Wright of St Bartholomew’s Church and Sheila Bailey of Leeds Building Society.

Leeds Building Society has made a donation of £1,320 to homeless charity St George’s Crypt.

This represents the Charitable Incentive Donation from the mutual’s Annual General Meeting.

The Leeds donated 10p for every postal vote received and 20p for every internet vote. Members selected which partner charity they wanted to receive the donation from their vote.

This donation coincided with the first anniversary of the St George’s Crypt shop being open in Armley.

Sheila Bailey, Leeds Building Society’s assistant manager at Armley branch, attended and said: “I was very pleased to join in the first anniversary celebrations at the shop, and delighted to hear that it has been such a great success over the last 12 months.

“The Society’s donation has gone towards new furniture and equipment at the shop, and I look forward to working with the shop and building our relationship further in the future.”

Martin Patterson of St George’s Crypt added: “We very much value our relationship with Leeds Building Society, and the money their members have raised for us really will make a difference.”
