The Yorkshire Building Society has appointed a new general manager, with responsibility for developing and supporting the mutual’s growing workforce.

Jane Hanson (pictured) has been made general manager – people experience, and will oversee HR and internal communications among the 4,100 staff employed at offices and branches across the UK.

Janshee has almost 20 years’ experience within HR and financial services, having worked with Alliance & Leicester, HSBC and First Direct.

Meanwhile, as part of a new General Management structure, Rachel Court has been made general manager – customer experience.

Chris Pilling, Yorkshire Building Society’s chief executive, said: “By attracting someone of Jane’s calibre to the Society and changing Rachel’s role to focus on our customers, we have strengthened our position as we continue to grow.

“We are investing significantly in broadening the depth and quality of services we provide customers and engaging and developing the people delivering those improvements is key.”

Hanson added: “I am delighted to be joining the Yorkshire at such an exciting time for the Society, which has a strong set of mutual values that run through the heart of the organisation.

“Our people are pivotal to the great reputation the Society enjoys and I am looking forward to contributing to the Yorkshire’s continued success.”
