Leeds Building Society has raised £1,530 for charity through a number of recent sporting themed charity events.
A team of Head Office staff took part in a Triathlon event to raise funds for St Gemma’s Hospice, Martin House Children’s Hospice and Tiny Lives Special Care Babies. In total the team covered 56.4km, which was 2.4km of swimming, 42km biking and 12km running.
The total time for the group, which was drawn from the Society’s Project Office, was 3 hours, 55 minutes and 43 seconds. The distances for the triathlon were completed as a team, and the funds were raised via a competition for their colleagues and family members to guess the total time.
“The team are really proud of our efforts,” said Claire Wilkin, project manager at Leeds Building Society. “The triathlon was a challenge as the majority of us are not active gym members, and we were aiming for the fastest time possible. Our colleagues were very generous in their support and it was great that we got to raise money for local charities. We are now looking forward to the next challenge.”
Other sporting activities the Society has raised funds through lately include a table tennis challenge, Wii bowling, sponsored walk and by playing hoopla.
