Jon Hall, CEO of Saffron Building Society, has confronted his fear of flying to complete a charity wing walk.
Hall (pictured) was this weekend strapped to the top wing of a vintage biplane and swept through the air at speeds of up to 135mph, above the Essex countryside.
He was aiming to raise £2,000 for the Saffron Building Society Community Fund. Established in 2010 and managed by Essex Community Foundation, the fund aims to support good causes of all kinds in the Society’s regions.
Hall said: “I have to admit to having second and third thoughts but I was determined to complete the wing walk. Over the last few years we have been able to help fund the people and organisations in our region who work tirelessly to support those in need.
“I have met with many of the volunteers who run these organisations and they have inspired me to want to raise as much sponsorship as possible, to help more groups than ever this year.”
So far he has raised £2,270.00 for local charities. You can still make donations on his Just Giving site.
