The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) is launching a new cross-industry mentoring programme in association with the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and The Diversity and Inclusivity Finance Forum (DIFF).
This will operate through its workinginmortgages.org.uk website.
Mentorship was one of the recommendations made in the 2021 AMI Viewpoint on diversity, inclusion and equity in the mortgage sector to reduce barriers towards career progression.
The primary objective of the program is to support people across the mortgage industry to enhance their skills and their career potential through for one-to-one and reverse mentoring opportunities. It is open to all in lenders, insurers and the intermediary sector to participate.
Robert Sinclair (pictured), AMI’s chief executive, said: “You are never too young or too old to be mentored. A good mentor can help keep a career challenging and fulfilling, even for those in the later stages of their career. No matter where you are in your career, there is always someone who knows more than you, who can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and improve your skills.
“We are grateful for all the partnership provided between AMI and IMLA to weave a network across our sector. Thank you to DIFF for its financial support to this initiative which means it will be free at the point of delivery. I am excited to see how this can enhance the career journeys of our people.”
