Atom Bank unveils intermediary ‘Digital Mortgages’

Atom Bank has announced the launch of residential mortgages, available through selected intermediary partners using the ‘Digital Mortgages by Atom Bank’ brand.

It will offer a range of residential lending, including criteria that support self-employed, contractors, lending into retirement, purchase, remortgage, shared ownership, first-time-buyers and new-build properties, with buy-to-let mortgages “coming soon”.

Maria Harris, Atom’s director of retail mortgages, said: “We’re delighted to be launching our mortgage proposition through our intermediary partners. We strongly believe that offering mortgages via intermediaries will give our customers the best service and the very best advice when choosing a mortgage.

“Our ultimate aim is to help people get what’s right for them, and for them to have a unique and personalised experience along the way.

“Our technology and systems are all about making the mortgage application process easier for the intermediary and their customer. We’re using digital to change the way that we support a mortgage application today but also to build a platform that supports the technology of tomorrow.

“We are human too though. With an experienced field-based team and contact via telephone, email and even twitter, we’ll be providing support right across the UK.”

Once an Atom mortgage has been recommended by the intermediary, customers will need to download the Atom App, available free via the Apple or Google Play stores.

In the app, customers can log in securely with face and voice biometrics and track their Decision in Principle (DIP) and application progress through the process.

They can also receive all updates and communication, and accept the mortgage offer via the app.

It also allows customers to keep and store all key documentation, with no need for customers or brokers to post anything to Atom Bank.

The lender said intermediaries should check with their firm or network to see if they are eligible to register on our panel; more networks will be added in the near future, it added.

Atom’s CEO Mark Mullen said: “Buying a home can be hugely exciting, but banks are playing with people’s dreams when they make the process so difficult. We want to change this – it should be a positive experience. Old legacy processes that are institutionalised at the traditional banks simply don’t exist at Atom because we’ve built this bank from scratch.

“We can offer mortgages that are great value, and a service that is fast, informative and transparent. If the broker can offer their client an exceptional experience, they have a happy client and more time to spend on building their own business. This is genuinely a revolution in mortgage lending.”
