Staff from the Leeds Building Society have used their volunteering leave at a Swansea-based charity.
Friends of the Young Disabled provide a centre for the young disabled and other members of the community to meet and use its facilities.
These facilities have been improved and expanded following the efforts of the five volunteers in clearing out two rooms at the charity’s centre.
The Swansea branch team were taking advantage of the Society’s volunteering scheme, which allows all colleagues a day’s paid leave each year to help in the community.
Amanda Evans, branch manager at Leeds Building Society’s Swansea branch, said: “The volunteering day provided an opportunity for team building and skills development.
“It was also great for boosting individual morale, as our colleagues realised they were making a difference in the lives of some of the most isolated people in Swansea.
“We have made a difference to this charity as we’ve made a new room available which has been unused for many years.”
Chris Holley, chairman at Friends of the Young Disabled, added: “It’s always great to welcome and thank volunteers who come in their own free time to help with the work we do.
“I’d like to thank them for all the work they did, and look forward to any other collaboration that can take place.”
