The Conveyancing Association (CA) has announced the launch of its new Paralegal Course via its online training portal, The Conveyancing Academy.

The course has been designed to provide delegates with a basic knowledge of property law and the procedures required to facilitate straightforward conveyancing transactions.

The Paralegal Course material has been assessed, edited and accredited by academic and practising experts and is accredited and certificated by the CA. It reflects the current CA protocol for conveyancing, launched last month, and provides a flexible training facility.

Academy delegates can train individually online or in trainer-led seminars, with automatic online grading, certification and course-tracking facilities.

Paralegal Course delegates are required to work through each of the 15 modules in order, taking them through a conveyancing transaction from land law and taking instructions, to pre-contract enquiries and searches, exchange and completion, and on to contractual delays and remedies.

There are tasks to complete in each Module in order to obtain a final certificate and grade. Materials and content include an online and interactive handbook, a downloadable handbook in Word Format, instructional videos and PowerPoint slides.

Each Module will provide a grade and when all 15 modules are completed successfully, delegates receive an overall score and Certificate of Accreditation from the Conveyancing Academy.

Lloyd Davies, operations director at the Conveyancing Association, said: “We are extremely pleased to be launching the new Paralegal Course for CA member firms who want to train their staff quickly and thoroughly. This will give firms the opportunity to get their employees up to speed with the conveyancing process, whilst at the same time testing that knowledge to ensure staff are fully aware of all aspects of the work.

“Our aim is to ensure that delegates can work through the course in a variety of ways – it’s a fact of life that different people learn differently, which is why we have a range of online resources as well as downloadable documents that can take them through the course step by step. Not only is this course extremely thorough and accessible but for CA member firms it is also cost-effective – CA members will now pay a discounted rate of £210 per delegate which means each module only costs £14 each; the retail price for non-members is £299 per delegate. Plus there is a 10% discount for block purchases of 10 or more delegates.

“By utilising the Conveyancing Academy framework, we are in a strong position to continue delivering training courses which will meet the learning needs of all our member firms and their staff. The industry should expect further training course launches in the weeks ahead.”
