Santander unveils new home insurance offering

Santander has launched its new Santander Home Insurance, offering unlimited contents and buildings insurance, plus additional optional extras including 24 hour Home Emergency and Legal Services cover.

1|2|3 customers (Current Account and/or Credit Card) will benefit from a 30% discount on their first year’s premium while Santander customers who do not have a 1|2|3 account or credit card will receive 20% off when they take out buildings, contents or combined buildings and contents cover.

The new home insurance product has received a 5 Star Rating from independent financial research company Defaqto for unlimited buildings and unlimited contents cover. It replaces Santander’s Peace of Mind Plus and Choices Home Insurance..

Our cover includes:

  • A choice of either unlimited contents cover or up to £25,000 for a three-bedroom property or less; Note £25,000 cover option is rated as 3 star Defaqto.
  • Replacement of belongings with brand new ones if they are lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair;
  • Any permanent repairs made by Santander approved suppliers to be guaranteed for 12 months;
  • UK based claims line, open 24/7, 365 days a year
  • A named personal claims manager to manage a customer’s claim from start to finish
  • A fully approved local tradesperson within two hours of a customer’s call to secure their home following a break-in
  • Santander Home Insurance also comes with optional extras such as Personal Belongings; and Extra Accidental Damage Cover.

Santander also added 24 Hour Emergency Cover and Legal Services Cover of up to £50,000; which are in addition to the standard policy (and excluded from any discount).

Alan Mathewson, head of Santander Insurance, said: “At Santander, we pride ourselves in offering customers a breadth and depth of home insurance cover that protects them when they need it most. That’s why we’re so pleased that our unlimited buildings and contents cover is rated as 5 star by Defaqto, the independent financial research company.

“We also understand that customers want to feel recognised and valued by their bank. So for home insurance we offer a 30% discount for our 123 Current Account and/or 123 Credit Card customers as well as a 20% discount for existing customers.”
