Mortgage and protection network JLM Mortgage Services has launched a business-wide charity initiative designed to help three different charities every year.

The initiative, called, ‘JLM Giving, One Team’ is a year-long pledge to help the chosen charities – in 2017/18, Shelter, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Cancer Research UK – through regular, voluntary contributions from network and staff members, plus via various fundraising events that will take place over the next 12 months.

The network, which has 43 advisers across seven firms and 21 further members of staff, is seeking to do this via two channels.

Firstly, it is asking all those who are able to do so to give a regular voluntary contribution – either a fixed figure or percentage – from their monthly income which will go to the ‘JLM Giving, One Team’ fund.

Alternatively, advisers and members of staff will be able to take part in a series of fundraising events that will be held over the course of the next 12 months and will be designed to raise as much money as possible in order to help the charities.

JLM has also committed to giving an additional 20% of the total funds raised by its network members at the end of the year. All money raised will be split evenly between the three charities.

The chosen charities will change on a yearly basis and network members are also able to nominate charities which they would like to see benefit from ‘JLM Giving, One Team’.

Rory Joseph (pictured, right), director of JLM Mortgage Services, said: “We know that many members of staff and our network members are already very active when it comes to charity fundraising however we felt that, via our combined efforts, JLM would be able to raise significant amounts each year for our chosen charities.

“One of our JLM advisers, Phil Gander, has been absolutely instrumental in getting this new initiative off the ground and it is down to Phil’s persistence, enthusiasm and sheer determination for JLM to start giving back collectively, that we have reached this starting point. It is now up to us to get the ball rolling – we’re now planning our first events and looking forward to generating plenty of money for these very deserving charities.”

Sebastian Murphy (pictured, left), head of mortgage finance at JLM Mortgage Services, added: “This year we’ve chosen three charities close to all our hearts at JLM because of their work with the homeless, children and cancer. Shelter, GOSH and Cancer Research UK are leading lights in their fields and carry out amazing work that benefit so many people in society.

“Throughout the next 12 months we’ll be trying to work just as hard to raise money for them via our regular contributions and the fundraising events which will also be a lot of fun. Unsurprisingly, we’ve already seen a real interest in contributing from all concerned as all those associated with JLM put their full support behind this initiative.

“As a successful company in a professional industry we all believe at JLM that we should be supporting others less fortunate than ourselves.”
