All providers describe their systems as being whole of market. This is significant as advisers see this as the most important single factor in selecting a sourcing system.

There is however a difference in both product and provider numbers on each system. Live product numbers range from 8,631 for Twenty7Tec and 40,642 for Mortgage Brain (although the latter includes withdrawn products in its figure).

The number of lenders on a system ranged from c. 100 with Mortgage Brain and 106 with Twenty7Tec to 317 with Mortgage Brain. This figures includes packager and distribution exclusives.

Three of the sourcing systems featured have third-party integrations in order to facilitate general insurance and/ or protection sourcing. Iress, which did not participate in this year’s report, said in January 2020 that this was in development.
